When Seco migrated to a new ERP system in 2020, one of the changes that our customers began to see was the occurrence of 8-digit item numbers (GPN), as opposed to the familiar 5-digit numbers (EDP). In preparation for our system migration, all new products launched in the past 3 years were only assigned a GPN while older part numbers were assigned an EDP as well as a new GPN post system migration.

The existence of an EDP and GPN for a portion of our products has created confusion when customers go to quote or process orders; while our platforms have accommodations for both EDP and GPN, we highly recommend that every Seco partner updates their ERP systems with the GPN item numbers.
